Riot Games Reveals New League of Legends Champion Yunara
April 18, 2025
Summoners, prepare yourselves! Season 2 of League of Legends (LoL) is just around the corner, and Riot Games has a sweet surprise in store: a brand-new champion named Yunara! This mysterious characterโhighly likely to be an ADC (Attack Damage Carry)โmade her first appearance in the epic Season 2 cinematic, Here Tomorrow, part of the Spirit Blossom Beyond universe.
In the stunning cinematic, we catch glimpses of several iconic champions like Xin Zhao (who hails from Ionia), Ashe, Ivern, Nidalee, Lux, Shen, Irelia, and Morgana. But at the very end of the video, a mysterious figure appears and instantly captures our attentionโit’s none other than Yunara.
Who is Yunara in League of Legends?
Not much official information has been released about Yunara just yet, aside from speculation about her role. Some early leaks suggested she might be a support, but this was quickly debunked by Riotโs Director of Content Strategy, Brian Cearns, who confirmed that Yunara is not a support champion.
Shortly after, the official League of Legends social media accounts confirmed that the mysterious figure in the cinematic is indeed Yunara, a brand-new ADC champion set to debut in Season 2!
Her abilities remain a mystery for now, but based on the cinematic, it looks like her powers are tied to the glowing lanterns she hangs in the trees and the flowers she releases into the air. There’s also a strong possibility that sheโs a spirit-like being (similar to Janna), especially since all the cinematic scenes take place in the Spirit Realmโand the only trace of Yunara in Runeterra is a statue.
When Will Yunara Be Released in League of Legends?
According to Riotโs recent developer update by Paul โPabroโ Belleza, Yunara is expected to launch in Act II of Season 2. He teased that players will learn more about Yunara โand her connection to the Spirit Blossomsโ as we get closer to her release date.
This means weโll likely need to wait at least a month or two after Season 2 kicks off. For context, League of Legends Season 2 officially begins on April 30. So get ready, marksmen mainsโa new ADC with a mysterious, magical flair is about to shake up the bot lane meta in Summonerโs Rift!
We canโt wait to see what other surprises Yunara and Riot Games have in store for us in Season 2. Itโs going to be epic!
