The PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC) 2026 is set to become one of the most prestigious tournaments on the PUBG Mobile competitive calendar this year. As part of the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026, the competition will bring together 32 of the best teams from around the world to compete for the world championship title and a massive total prize pool of US$3 million, equivalent to approximately IDR 53.7 billion.

With such a competitive lineup, PMWC 2026 is expected to deliver intense action from the very first day. Top teams from Southeast Asia, East Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas will battle for a place in the decisive stages of the tournament.

PMWC 2026 Schedule and Format

PMWC 2026 will consist of three main stages: the Group Stage, Survival Stage, and Grand Finals.

Group Stage (August 6–9, 2026)

The Group Stage will serve as the opening phase of the tournament. The 32 participating teams will be divided into two groups, with 16 teams in each group.

The qualification system is as follows:

Teams finishing 1st–5th in each group will advance directly to the Grand Finals.
Teams finishing 6th–13th will have another opportunity through the Survival Stage.
The bottom three teams from each group will be eliminated from the tournament.

Survival Stage (August 11–12, 2026)

The 16 teams advancing from the Group Stage will compete once again for the final six spots in the Grand Finals.

Only the six best-performing teams will advance, while the remaining 10 teams will be eliminated from the competition.

Grand Finals (August 14–16, 2026)

The Grand Finals will feature 16 teams consisting of:

10 teams that qualify directly from the Group Stage.
6 teams that advance from the Survival Stage.

All teams will compete for the world championship title and the grand prize using a different match format compared to the previous stages.

Grand Finals Use the Smash Rule Format

PMWC 2026 will once again adopt the Smash Rule to determine the world champion. This system keeps the competition open until the final match.

The Grand Finals will have a maximum of 18 matches. After 12 matches have been played, the tournament organizers will determine the Match Point, which is calculated by adding 10 points to the total score of the team currently sitting in first place.

A team that reaches this threshold will become Match Point Eligible. However, reaching the threshold does not automatically make them the champion.

To lift the trophy, a Match Point Eligible team must secure a Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD) in one of the following matches. If no team fulfills this requirement by the 18th match, the championship will be awarded to the team with the highest total score in the final standings.

This format often produces dramatic matches because every team still has an opportunity to turn the standings around until the final moments of the tournament.
