PUBG Mobile recently announced Unfail, its first asymmetrical PvP mode, as part of the Version 4.0 update. This mode was exclusively unveiled at Gamescom 2025 at the PUBG Mobile booth in Hall 6.1. Unfail introduces a “hunt and escape” concept: each match features five players, with a 1 Predator vs. 4 Survivors setup. The Predator has special abilities to chase and eliminate Survivors, while the Survivors must work together to activate terminals and escape through an exit gate.

PUBG Mobile UNFAIL Gameplay Details

• Predator: The Predator has unique abilities, including powerful melee attacks, a “Rage” mechanic that increases power with each elimination, and various traps and stealth skills.
• Survivors: Survivors are equipped with special tools: a Wrench (to speed up terminal activation), Jet Gauntlets (to jump over obstacles faster), and a Rescue Device (to revive teammates and restore HP).

Objective, Winning Conditions, & Strategy

• Survivors win if they successfully get 3 or more team members through the exit portal.
• The Predator wins if they prevent the escape or allow a maximum of only 1 Survivor to escape. Two Survivors escaping results in a draw, which often feels more like a loss than an actual defeat.
• Key Strategy: Survivors must play as a compact team, actively protect their teammates, and use their tools wisely. The Predator must use their “Rage” efficiently and split the team to maximize their advantage.

The Unfail mode is part of the “Beyond Battle Royale” initiative, which marks PUBG Mobile’s expansion of the gameplay experience beyond the traditional battle royale format. Unfail is an ambitious new step for PUBG Mobile, expanding the gameplay styles they offer from a massive battle royale to an intense, high-tension 4v1 experience. This mode combines elements of horror, strategy, and teamwork with a dark atmosphere, creating a fresh and promising new sensation in the world of mobile gaming.

The beta test for the new Unfail game mode was completed in August 2025. Tencent Games plans to release it in the PUBG Mobile Version 4.0 update on September 4, 2025.
