The international women’s Mobile Legends tournament, Mobile Legends Women’s Invitational (MWI) 2024, is set to kick off soon. The tournament is part of the prestigious Esports World Cup (EWC) 2024, which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A total of 12 of the best women’s Mobile Legends teams from around the world will compete for a share of the US$500,000 prize pool, equivalent to approximately Rp 8.1 billion.

MWI 2024 Schedule and Competition Format

The tournament will take place from July 24 to July 27, 2024.

The competition begins with the Group Stage, where the 12 participating teams are divided into four groups of three teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs.

The Playoffs will be held on July 26 and July 27, 2024, featuring a single-elimination bracket. Matches will be played in a Best-of-3 (BO3) format, while the Grand Finals will be contested in a Best-of-5 (BO5) series.

Indonesia Sends Two Strong Contenders

Indonesia will be represented by two teams at MWI 2024:

• Team Vitality
• Team Falcons Vega

Team Vitality, formerly known as Bigetron Era, earned its spot after winning Women’s Star League (WSL) Season 8. Meanwhile, Team Falcons Vega, which previously acquired the GPX Basreng roster, qualified through the ESL Women’s League.

Both Indonesian teams are considered strong contenders for the championship title. Team Vitality enters the tournament as one of the favorites and the defending champion after winning MWI 2023. On the other hand, Team Falcons Vega has consistently been Team Vitality’s fiercest rival, with both teams producing highly competitive matches whenever they meet.

However, the Indonesian representatives must also be wary of other strong teams, particularly Omega Empress from the Philippines and Gaimin Gladiators X HomeGirls from Malaysia, both of which have proven themselves on the regional stage.
