Meet Valorant Summit Map, the Newest Map Set in the Mountains of China
June 30, 2026
Riot Games has rolled out another major update for VALORANT with the launch of Season 2026 Act 4. Alongside the introduction of the new Retake game mode, the update also features a brand-new map called Summit, which officially launched on June 24, 2026. Summit is one of the most anticipated additions to the game, offering unique gameplay mechanics never seen on previous VALORANT maps.
Beyond its stunning visual design, Summit introduces interactive elements capable of changing the flow of a match in the middle of each round. This innovative feature encourages players to think quickly and adapt their strategies whether attacking or defending.
Summit Is Set at a Radiant Academy in the Mountains of China
Summit is located at a Radiant training academy nestled in the mountains of China. According to VALORANT lore, the facility was once a Radiant monastery where Sage trained before joining the VALORANT Protocol.
The environment blends training halls, peaceful meditation gardens, and traditional Chinese architecture with modern technology. While the setting creates a calm atmosphere, the map still features numerous tight corridors and open areas that promote tactical gunfights and strategic positioning.
Interactive Walls Become Summit’s Signature Feature

The standout feature of Summit is its three interactive walls, positioned at A Site, Mid, and B Site. During each round, players can activate these walls, permanently altering rotation routes and sightlines for both teams.
Unlike Agent abilities that disappear after a short duration, Summit’s wall changes remain in effect until the end of the round. Every decision to lower a wall must therefore be carefully considered, as it can create new attack paths, block key areas, or even give the opposing team an advantage if activated at the wrong moment.
This mechanic makes every round feel unique while introducing a much wider range of strategic possibilities than traditional VALORANT maps.
Familiar Three-Lane Layout with a Fresh Strategic Twist

Although Summit introduces an entirely new gameplay mechanic, it still follows VALORANT’s classic three-lane layout featuring two Spike Sites. This familiar structure allows players to quickly understand the map’s fundamentals.
However, the addition of interactive walls makes control of the Mid area significantly more important than on most other maps. Teams that effectively manipulate rotation routes often gain valuable opportunities to flank opponents or reinforce bomb sites more efficiently.
The combination of a familiar layout and innovative mechanics makes Summit easy to learn while remaining difficult to master.
Unlike several previous map releases, Riot Games immediately added Summit to the Competitive map pool on its launch day.
To help players adjust, Riot introduced Rank Rating (RR) protection during the first two weeks. Losing on Summit only deducts 50% of the normal RR, while victories still award 100% RR as usual.
In addition, Riot launched a Summit Only queue for the first seven days in the Swiftplay format, allowing players to explore every corner of the map without relying on the standard map rotation.
For players looking to improve their performance, mastering Summit’s rotation routes and learning the optimal timing for activating its interactive walls will be essential. With its innovative mechanics and strategic depth, Summit has the potential to become one of the most tactical maps in VALORANT Season 2026 Act 4.
