After successfully hosting the HOK Invitational Midseason 2024, Tencent Games has officially announced its next international esports tournament. The event, titled Honor of Kings Championship 2024, will take place in Indonesia from October 1 to November 1, 2024.

The Honor of Kings Championship 2024 will serve as the game’s premier annual tournament. Indonesia has been selected as the host nation for the event, which will feature a total prize pool of US$1 million (approximately IDR 15 billion). A total of 16 of the best Honor of Kings teams from around the world will compete for the championship title.

“The Esports World Cup has become something unlike anything we have seen before in any esports event. We are excited to return in 2024 and 2025 to bring even more Honor of Kings tournaments to the global stage and create unforgettable memories,” said James Yang, Senior Director of the Level Infinite Global Esports Center, as quoted by One Esports.

Honor of Kings Championship 2024 Features 16 Teams Competing for US$1 Million

Tencent Games has not yet confirmed the competition format for the Honor of Kings Championship 2024. However, the 16 participating teams will come from various regions, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Turkey, Brazil, the Middle East and North Africa, the Americas, Europe, the Pacific region, and several other countries.

LGD Gaming MY from Malaysia became the first team to secure a spot in the tournament after winning the HOK Invitational Midseason x EWC 2024. The remaining slots have yet to be determined, as teams will need to qualify through regional tournaments and qualification stages, including those held in Indonesia.

As the host nation, Indonesia will have extra motivation to perform well on home soil. This comes after the country’s representatives at the HOK Invitational Midseason x EWC 2024, Kagendra and Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ), struggled to achieve strong results. RRQ failed to advance to the group stage, while Kagendra was unable to reach the knockout stage.
