HOK Announces New Hero Garuda With Indonesian Culture Theme
November 7, 2024
Tencent Games, the developer of Honor of Kings (HOK), has announced the upcoming release of a new Indonesia-themed hero named Garuda Khageswara. This new character was created as a gesture of appreciation for the enthusiasm shown by Indonesian players.
The announcement was made alongside the 2024 HOK Championship tournament, which took place in Indonesia. Black Shrew Esports from Malaysia emerged as the champions, while Indonesiaβs own team, Dominator Esports, took second place. However, the excitement and support from Indonesian fans were truly noteworthy.
Garuda Khageswara Expected Release in 2025
The hero Garuda is scheduled for release by Tencent in early 2025. Unfortunately, Tencent hasnβt yet provided further details on Garudaβs abilities or specific character traits, only an initial look and an estimated release time. The final appearance and skill set of Garuda remain under wraps.
Itβs likely that Garuda will play a Fighter role, based on early previews of Garuda Khageswaraβs design. This character is depicted as a hybrid creature with both bird and human features, with gold and white as the dominant colors on its body and wings. Garuda Khageswara evokes a mysterious and somewhat fearsome aura.
Honor of Kings Expands to a Global Audience
As we know, Honor of Kings was recently launched globally by Tencent Games. Initially developed for Chinese mobile MOBA players, the game reflects a strong Chinese cultural influence. With its global release, Tencent is working to expand the game by incorporating cultural elements from other countries, including Indonesia.
