Valve Corporation recently introduced a new Dota 2 hero named Kez, the Bird Samurai, during the Grand Finals of The International 2024. The character was revealed by the developers through the Crownfall storyline, while dataminers have also discovered several clues related to the upcoming hero. Here are the details known about Kez in Dota 2 so far.

The teaser published by Valve portrays Kez as a revolutionary hero. The Crownfall story tells about the Kazurai Order, a group of flightless monk birds who secretly train to oppose Queen Imperia. The order has two leaders, Kraw and Kestrel. In the comic, the latter introduces himself by saying, “I cannot fly, I am a Kazurai bird.” It is possible that Kez is short for Kestrel.

According to leakers, Crownfall Act IV is expected to be released on September 24, 2024, and the event may run until November 26, 2024. During this period, players will likely receive more information about the new hero Kez. Valve has only confirmed that Kez will be released sometime after The International 2024, which recently concluded. In that tournament, Team Liquid successfully became the champions of TI13 after defeating Gaimin Gladiators in the Grand Finals.

Unfortunately, Valve has not yet revealed the detailed abilities or skills of Kez. However, many fans are already speculating about how the hero will play. As a samurai bird, Kez is expected to take on the Carry role within a team. Kez’s story is also believed to have connections with characters like Skywrath Mage and Juggernaut.

Previously, Dota 2 also introduced another new hero called Ringmaster. Ringmaster was first announced in October 2023 following The International 2023. However, it took around 10 months, until August 2024, for the hero to finally be officially released in the game.
