Shock Disqualification Hits MSC 2025: S8ul Removed Before Tournament Begins
July 3, 2025
Even before it officially begins, shocking news has emerged from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang MSC 2025 tournament. One of the participating teams, S8ul from North America (NA), has been disqualified from the competition. In an official statement released by the tournament organizer, Moonton Games, it was revealed that players Mobazane and Hoon violated tournament rules.
S8ul Players Violated Rules by Participating in a Competitorβs MOBA Event

Moonton stated that two players from S8ul β Michael βMobaZaneβ Cosgun and Jang βHoonβ Seong-hun β violated regulations that had been clearly established. The violation occurred when both players took part in a rival MOBA game’s event (Honor of Kings). Specifically, MobaZane and Hoon joined the Honor of Kings β48 Hours Ranking Marathonβ held on June 27β28, 2025.
Following this, MobaZane questioned the basis of the disqualification. He argued that, according to the MSC 2025 rulebook, the rules were only in effect from July 10 to August 2, 2025 β the official tournament period. However, Moonton clarified that those dates refer to the competition schedule, not the effective period of the regulations. The rules apply from the moment a team qualifies until the MSC 2025 ends. Moonton also emphasized that the rulebook grants them final interpretive authority over the rules in force.
AREA 77 Replaces S8ul at MSC 2025

As a result of this decision, S8ulβs slot has been revoked and given to AREA 77, the runner-up of the NACT Spring 2025 tournament β the qualifying event for MSC 2025. However, the NACT Spring 2025 has also been criticized, especially for only awarding Diamonds as prizes, which many feel is insufficient. This is believed to be a key reason why some players chose to participate in other gamesβ events to earn extra income.
This decision has caused tension between Moonton, the North American community, and pro players worldwide. Many criticized Moonton for what they see as an arbitrary decision. The community has also raised concerns about players’ freedom to stream or participate outside official tournaments. Despite the backlash, Moonton appears firm in their decision to disqualify Team S8ul.
This incident serves as a crucial lesson for esports teams globally discipline and adherence to official rules are paramount.
