LoL Worlds 2025 Tournament Format

Worlds 2025 introduces a new three-stage system that emphasizes competitiveness and strategy:
1. Play-In Stage
The Play-In Stage for 2025 features a single best-of-five (Bo5) series between LCKβs 4th seed and LPLβs 4th seed. The winner advances to the Swiss Stage, while the loser is immediately eliminated β highlighting the high-stakes nature of this yearβs qualification process.
In this stage, T1 will face Invictus Gaming on October 14, 2025.
2. Swiss Stage
The Swiss Stage includes 16 teams, featuring the Play-In winner. Teams will face opponents with similar win-loss records throughout the stage.
-
Teams with 3 wins advance to the Knockout Stage.
-
Teams with 3 losses are eliminated.
-
Decider matches are played in best-of-three (Bo3) format, while others use best-of-one (Bo1).
-
No rematches between the same teams are allowed.
This format ensures that every match counts, providing opportunities for underdog teams to shine and surprise the competition.
3. Knockout Stage β Grand Finals
The top eight teams from the Swiss Stage will advance to the Knockout Stage, played under a single-elimination format β one loss means elimination.
All matches are played in best-of-five (Bo5) format, with the Fearless Draft system in place. In this format, each champion can only be used once per series, demanding deep champion pools and creative strategies from every team.
