The world’s biggest international esports tournament, the IESF World Esports Championship 2023, is set to return in 2023. After Indonesia hosted the event last year, this time Romania will become the host nation. IESF WEC 2023 is scheduled to take place in the city of Iași from August 24 to September 4, 2023.

A total of six esports titles will be featured in the tournament: eFootball, Dota 2, Tekken, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

So far, Indonesia has successfully secured three slots for this annual event. The Indonesian representatives that have already qualified will compete in Dota 2, Mobile Legends, and Tekken.

Indonesia Looking to Repeat Its Success

In both Dota 2 and Mobile Legends, Indonesia qualified as the defending champion after winning the IESF World Esports Championship 2022 held in Bali last year. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Tekken representative secured their place by winning the qualification tournament held earlier in 2023.

In addition, Indonesia still has the opportunity to send more teams to compete in IESF WEC 2023. This is because the qualification stages for CS:GO and PUBG Mobile are still ongoing. Meanwhile, Indonesia also emerged as champion in eFootball, although it has not yet been officially announced whether they will receive a direct qualification spot for IESF WEC 2023.

It remains to be seen whether Indonesia can repeat its success from IESF WEC 2022. As the host nation last year, Indonesia managed to become the overall champion by winning three gold medals and one bronze medal.

The IESF World Esports Championship itself features participation from more than 100 countries and over 600 esports athletes from around the world.
